Kiya is a stunningly handsome young man returning to university after spring break to be confronted by his ex-boyfriend who is expecting to have their relationship start back up even though Kiya broke up with him prior to the break. Once Kiya attends his first few lectures, he falls for a new teacher’s assistant and tries to get his attention despite the rules against this type of relationship. Brian wants to be with Kiya as well but has a secret he is not ready to share and is concerned about his job. Ongoing problems with the ex-boyfriend Ted push Kiya and Brian together despite the rules.

While very sure of his own good looks, Kiya has trouble with his self worth and is worried about the type of guy he attracts. Through his troubles with Ted and the new relationship with Brian, he learns to accept that while he is weaker physically than others, he has other attributes to be proud of. Kiya is a very believable character with a slightly large ego about his looks but this gels with his personality.

Then there is Ted, Kiya’s ex-boyfriend and a very controlling person (I would actually call him something less polite). He doesn’t take the break up well and spirals into stalking behavior. While Ted plays a very defining part to this book, his character doesn’t really alter through the story, but it his is behavior and the resulting actions will have far reaching effects on Kiya and Brian

I stayed up late at night to finish this book. The story definitely grabs hold, and you want to know what is going to happen next. I’ve never read male on male stories before and don’t feel fully qualified to comment on the erotic scenes which form a large part of the book. But in saying that, I felt they were well written and a vital part of the story rather than a distraction. According to the author’s notes at the end, there will be more books following the evolving relationship of Kiya and Brian. I would definitely recommend this book to readers of this genre or similar genres.
