Great Scots by Shara Azod

Conaire, a Celtic God, loved human women…they were so much more sensual creatures than the boring deities that surrounded him in the Other Side. When the fae Queen Elphame decided she wanted Conaire as her own, he rebuffed her advances and found himself trapped in exile in the Other Side for centuries. Wanting more than anything to touch human soil and the lovely human women again, Conaire skeptically agreed to Elphame’s offer of freedom, knowing that she would try again to bind him and use it against him.

Tasha was in deep trouble. Her boyfriend had talked her into this romantic trip to Scotland only to dump her for a Jamaican bimbo he just met. The problem wasn’t that Tasha missed her man – he was a write off – but the creep had taken not only her money but her passport as well, leaving her stranded. Without the passport, not only could she not leave the country but she couldn’t work for her keep without a visa to hold a job. When a beautiful woman approached her in the pub where she was drowning her sorrows in a pint or two of Scottish ale, she graciously accepted and followed her to a place to stay until her travelling matters could be worked out.

MacKay was Conaire’s brother but not by birth. Escaping from Eire centuries ago to the Scottish lands, he was struck down by the fae Queen for using their lands to live on. Due to his devotion to Conaire’s mother, the Lady Scota, the Great Mother of Scotland, she gave him on his deathbed half of her only son’s soul to keep him alive. The two would now share a soul and thusly would share a soulmate but would the lady that either chose accept the love of both men?

Woken up by a sexy beast of a man, Tasha believes she is dreaming when he tastes her, and they eagerly indulge in their carnal desires. Realizing that not only was this hunk of a man not a dream but somehow they were connected had the poor woman’s mind whirling with questions that somehow the man was answering even though she had not spoken them aloud which put her in more of a tailspin. When another man entered her bedroom and said that he, too, was going to be a part of her mating, Tasha didn’t know which way to turn. Two men to devote their lives to her, the possibility of becoming a goddess herself and the blessing of the Great Mother on the union between herself and her sons is more than Tasha ever thought she would be part of when she left on this trip to Scotland. All should be smooth sailing now towards a bright and happy eternity, but with a traitor within the house and a fae Queen out for revenge, will Tasha be able to hold on to the men who have become her life?

This quick and entertaining read was erotic and funny as the deities battled with the fae Queen who was manipulating the players to her wishes. I wish that there was a little more depth in the story as the heroine seemed to be a little bit too accepting of the situation given that she seemed like a very strong willed woman and I would have thought she would have fought a bit more. However, I would say that with “Great Scots”, Ms. Azod has delivered a witty and sexy story that deserves to be devoured while curled up with a warm drink under a Scots plaid.
