Laid in Stone by Elyssa Lynne
Dr. Jacqueline (Jaxi) Daniels, archaeologist, has been obsessed for years with finding the “The Abominations of the Devil”, two Mayan artifacts spoken about in the diary of a Spanish priest. In his diary, the priest refers to the two artifacts as “The Sin of Adam and The Deceit of Eve”. Jaxi receives an invitation from Dr. Connor Stone (another obsession of hers) to come to the Yucatan Peninsula to look at a recent discovery, but Stone won’t go into details. When she arrives, she finds that one religion’s abomination is another’s sacred Bestowers of Life.
This is a hot, hot tale of the misunderstandings between people and cultures. Laid in Stone is a story of mystery, discovery and magic, and the relations between the characters are steamier than the jungle surrounding them. The majority of the book was descriptive sex scenes and truthfully, those parts were not particularly well written.
